KrunerChristopher Kuner

Mr. Christopher Kuner is a partner in the Brussels office of the international law firm Hunton & Williams. He is also Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Task Force on Privacy and Data Protection, and previously a member of the former Data Protection Expert Group of the European Commission.

Mr. Kuner has served as a consultant to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) on data protection issues, and is author of the book “European Data Protection Law: Corporate Compliance and Regulation" (2nd edition Oxford University Press 2007). He is also a member of the academic advisory board of the Gesellschaft für Datenschutz und Datensicherheit (GDD).

Jules Polonetsky has served since November 2008 as Co-chair and Director of the Future of Privacy Forum, a think tank seeking to improve the state of online privacy by advancing responsible data practices. His previous roles have included serving as Chief Privacy Officer at AOL and before that at DoubleClick, as Consumer Affairs Commissioner for New York City, as an elected New York State Legislator and as a congressional staffer, and as an attorney. He has served on the boards of groups such as TRUSTe, the IAPP, the Network Advertising Initiative, the Privacy Projects, and the Better Business Bureau (NY Region). Richard Purcell is the President & Executive Director of the Privacy Projects and the CEO of Corporate Privacy Group, and a leading voice in addressing consumer privacy and data protection challenges.

He advises multi-national corporations, Internet start-ups and government agencies about developing and implementing sustainable and effective information security and privacy programs, with emphasis on security and privacy awareness and practices.

As Microsoft’s original privacy officer, he designed, developed, implemented and managed one of the world’s largest and most advanced privacy programs. He is the prior chairman of TRUSTe, former director of IAPP, and currently Chairman of the Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee for the Department of Homeland Security.
