Karin Riis-Jørgensen is born in 1952 and is married with two grown sons. After graduating from law school in 1978 Karin Riis-Jørgensen started her carer in The Danish Federation of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises where she later took a leading position and headed up the Brussels office. She continued her career in Price Waterhouse Coopers where she was the driving force behind the company's establishment in the Baltic countries.
In 1994 Karin Riis-Jørgensen was elected to the European Parliament for the liberals (Venstre). She is the vice-president of the liberal group and member of the committee for the Internal Market and Consumer Protection, the monetary Committee and the USA delegation. Her main interest areas are competition, consumer rights, privacy and trafficking in human beings.

Dr. Paolo Balboni is Scientific Director of the European Privacy Association (EPA), as well as Cloud Computing Sector Director and Responsible for International Affairs at the Italian Institute for Privacy (IIP). In addition, he is a Research Associate at Tilburg University (the Netherlands) where he teaches the Master’s course “Liability of Web 2.0 Service Providers”; Dr. Balboni is also an assistant to the chair of Internet Law (Diritto di Internet) at the University of Bologna (Italy).
As an attorney-at-law, he is a founding partner of ICT Legal Consulting, an international law firm that is specialized in ICT law and personal data protection. He advises multinational companies mainly on legal issues related to data protection, IT contracts, e-commerce, cloud computing, liability for Web 2.0 Service and Providers’ liability, Internet content providers’ liability, e-signatures, digital retention of documents, and general IP matters.
Additionally, he advises celebrities on privacy and copyright issues. He has developed considerable expertise in the following industries: communications, media, entertainment, IT, e-health, fashion, and financial services. Dr. Balboni is author of the book Trustmarks in E-Commemerce: The Value of Web Seals and the Liability of their Providers, a selected legal expert for the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) projects on "Cloud Computing Risk Assessment", "Security and Resilience in Governmental Clouds", and "Common Assurance Metric - Beyond the Cloud". Paolo Balboni is regularly involved in European Commission projects related to ICT and data protection, as well as a regular speaker at many international conferences on the same matters.
In 2002, Dr. Balboni received a Law Degree with distinction from the University of Bologna and a Ph.D. in comparative ICT law from Tilburg University in 2008.
